B O O K S

I managed to read 5 books this month! But this might be my most disappointing reading month yet. March is always a weird month for me. Celebrating another birthday in lockdown doesn’t help either, but my sister and brother-in-law bought me an iPad so I’ve started drawing again! I’m really excited to practise and improve so I can draw all the head canons my heart desires. My current loves right now are Jujutsu Kaisen and SK8 the infinity so they were my obvious first drawings. (Sorry, Miwa but I want a selfie with gojo too…) I’ll be posting more art stuff on twitter to show progress!
This might be one of the few times where I felt that the hype of a book really does not match up with the content. I was so disappointed by The Infinity Courts which was such a shame because I was really looking forward to reading it. A cool and interesting concept about the afterlife overrun by a virtual assistant, but the plot and characters do not hold up. Nami as a protagonist was really frustrating because of the constant contradictions. Plot armour saves her too much.
This entire month had me frazzled so I definitely wasn’t in the right head space to really enjoy this to its fullest potential. I actually ended up having to re-start reading The Jasmine Throne three times before I managed to settle into the story. But once I did, it was so much fun! There’s a lot of perspective changes throughout the story which I hadn’t expected. I’ll be waiting for that sequel impatiently!
I mentioned this in my review, but the book synopsis for Descent is so underwhelming that I feel like it does a huge disservice to the story. It gets quite dark and intense (check content warnings in review) and while marketed as YA, I would’ve loved to have seen what this book could’ve been if it was written for an older audience.
I was so disappointed when I finished Cinderella is Dead. A great concept, poor execution. I just wanted to shake this book by its shoulders and cry over the wasted potential.

Super cute though pacing is a little off for me. You’ll see my review on the blog tour later this month! Spoiler warning: but the ending was super disappointing. I hated the whole oh Canada is the better than America let’s move there take it had taken. I think the story would’ve benefitted from a more open ending.

A feature section to highlight my favourite posts from my fellow bloggers that were posted this month.
I’ve been seeing Honey Girl everywhere! I loved Joce’s review which made me even more excited to start this one soon!
I’m currently reading The Unbroken right now! I’m really enjoying it but I’m taking my time because all these fantasy books I’ve been reading is slowly turning turning my brain to mush. I love detailed worlds and adventure but my brain is fried as hell right now. So it’s taking all my energy not to rush through this one. Take a read at Fadwa’s interview with C.L. Clark! (also, check out the other Color the Shelves posts, they’re amazing!)
That’s it for this month! Tell me what went on in YOUR life this month! What sort of things was important for you this month? New obsessions? New TV shows? Or book? Any new song recs (I’m always open to new music!)? Best books you read this month?
I like your drawings. I just started drawing on a table and it’s a bit challenging. I’m so old-school, but I look forward to trying out digital drawing. I’ve got to listen to Chungha’s new album. I’ve had her song “Bicycle” on repeat lately.

Thanks! I’ve always struggled with traditional art so the flexibility of digital is super nice for me!
